Venice High School

Venice, Florida
Sarasota County Public Schools

  • 347,000 sq. ft.
  • Associated Architect: Schenkel Shultz Architecture
  • Associated Contractor: Mills Gilbane
  • 2015 1st Place Architectural Showcase – Florida Educators and Planners Association

The Venice High School rebuild was a multi-phased 4 year project that consolidated more than 60 buildings into a cohesive campus with minimum disruption to ongoing campus activities. The renovation encompassed approximately 347,000 sq. ft. and included the addition of new classroom buildings, media center, administration hub, and gymnasium. Some areas were renovated to incorporate the new campus materials palette and design identity, one of the most notable being the cafeteria. And, in a unique collaboration between the Sarasota County School Board and the City of Venice, a beautiful new 1,062 seat performing arts center was designed to serve the entire community.

The 46,975 sq. ft. center is the community’s place to “showcase the arts, train students and give a near perfect acoustic experience to patrons” says the Tampa Tribune in review. The center’s slogan is “Where Arts and Education Meet.” Ramski & Company was integral to the design of this performing arts center and creating a civic presence through the use of refined details and a sophisticated juxtaposition of the campus materials palette.
