The design team DLR Group (Architects) and Ramski and Company (Interior Designers) worked diligently with the Orange County Schools System, 9th Grade Center administration, and the surrounding neighborhood, to protect and enhance the historic character of the administration and auditorium buildings, gym, and classroom building that are to be renovated on this site (approximately 74,000 sq. ft. total).  The new 2 story, state of the art, classroom building housing the cafeteria and the media center (approximately 74,700 sq. ft.) anchors the southwest corner of the site and was carefully scaled by DLR Group to blend into the residential neighborhood surrounding the school.  The façade was crafted to create a new sense of arrival from key access roads and both “halves” of the new structure address a central courtyard that becomes the new campus focus.
